April 20, 2023: Lab members Andréa Johnson, Kale Scatterty, Matthew Harper, Ryan Verbitsky, Alycia Stewart and James Hudson present their research projects on zebrafish, terpenes and anxiety at MacEwan’s annual Student Research Day. The event provided an opportunity for these talented researchers to share their findings and contribute to scientific community. March 8-10, 2023: Lab members Andréa Johnson and James Hudson present their work on terpenes at the R.E. Peter Biology Conference. Andréa’s work focused on the terpene alpha-pinene and its enantiomers, whereas James’ focused on the terpene bisabolol.

October 3-6, 2021: Lab member Joshua Szaszkiewicz presents his research titled “Chronic Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) exposure impacts anxiety-like behaviour but not boldness in zebrafish (Danio rerio).” at the Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop 2021!

January 18, 2021: Lab members Rachel Dean and Nicole Hurst Radke feature in MacEwan news article and discuss their most recent publication coming out of the zebrafish lab titled “Vision of conspecifics decreases the effectiveness of ethanol on zebrafish behaviour”. May 25-26, 2020: Lab members Shayna and Joshua win awards for their research presentations at the undergraduate research in science conference of Alberta (URSCA). Shayna Chaput was awarded 2nd place for her research on shoaling behaviours in zebrafish when the lateral line system was interrupted or disabled. Joshua Szaszkiewicz was awarded 1st place for his research on the long-term rearing effects of photoperiod and salinity on the behaviour of Coho salmon.
